GM diet.

Fact: My body weight is seriously UNSTABLE. I know I should have this checked by a doctor but being in the medical field, knowing stuff about diseases etc, well, it scares the hell out of me to seek medical help. Boom! Anyway, my cousin, Paula is getting married this June. By virtue of "family", she chose me to be her maid (without) of honor. Read: GOWN. Hello? One, I'm not used to donning one. Two, my body is not gown-ready. Three, I just had my haircut and I don't know how this will be styled on the big day. Oh well, good luck! Back to THE body issue. So P's getting married, I am required to dress in a long gown, thus I am (starving) preparing my body. Last Wednesday (April 18), a "Team GM" was created in the clinic. The members are: Doc Arvie, Lorelie, Faye, Abi and me. It's hard to be on a diet and it's harder to do it alone. I decided to join in because I know it will be a lot easier to eat with people who are health and body image conscious too. No official weigh ins were done, but I did mine just for baseline data. This 7-day diet is quite popular and sad to say, like all diets, boring. My mom and sister has tried this last year before their Palawan escapade, my sister lost around 3lbs, and more or less 6lbs for my mom. Continued cycles of this diet with 2-3 days rest in between has proven to be effective. I'm still on cylce one, day six, today.

Here's the deal, you can only eat specific types of food for the entire duration of the diet. For 7 days you have to stick with a list. That's why it's best to do it with a partner or a group so you can constantly remind each other what you guys can and cannot eat. Plus, you can share too! For non-veggie eaters like me, this is a big sacrifice. Also a tip, prepare your meals at home. In that way you don't have to go around the mall, wasting your time looking for the type of food you are only allowed to eat.

The LIST (and what I ate):
(increase water intake! Ultimate no-no: Colored drinks, but I think dark coffee is allowed but is already considered a CHEAT :p)

Day 1: ALL FRUITS.
*I eat fruits but I never crave for them. To start this program, I ate 4 small apples and 4 small oranges. It is best to eat WATERMELON on day one. (+ 1hr walk/run/jog around the park, I know it's not advisable). Bananas NOT allowed.

Day 2: ALL VEGGIES.
*Hardest day for me. I took in one dimsum-size-cup of modified chopsuey. By modified, I only ate the carrots and some green leaf thingie. Then 4 pieces of Brutus' veggie lumpia rolls. The lumpia rolls are not really advisable since it's fried and oily. But hey, I'm starving!!! (+ 1hr walk/run/jog around the park).

Day 3: FRUITS AND VEGGIES.
*Easy, breezy. I stuffed myself with frozen watermelon and mangoes (yes, brought a small cooler to work. CHEAT PART: KFC salad with chicken. Forgive me.

Day 4: 3 cups of MILK AND 8 BANANAS.
*Sounds easy, noh? But the banana made me feel a little bloated. I love milk, I consumed more than 3 cups. The banana I took in only 4. CHEAT PART: KFC chicken meat only. I really miss eating-eating already!

Day 5: BEEF AND TOMATOES.
*Salamat, finally MEAT! A can of small corned beef and 3 pcs of Jolibbee Burger Steak the entire day. Shawarma is allowed but it was already close when I got off from work. This is beginning to be hard for me. But my teammates kept on encouraging me that we are already in day 5, two more days to go and were done with the first cycle. And Doc A already researched on our diet for the 4-day rest. Then cycle 2. TODAY I OFFICIALLY SAY GOODBYE TO RICE.

Day 6: BEEF AND VEGGIES.
*So this is for today. My yaya is preparing dry beefsteak. I'm hungry na! Extra challenge today since I'm off from work. Must not cheat!

Day 7: BROWN RICE, FRUITS AND VEGGIES.
*

So far, I'm happy with the results. I feel lighter and my tummy is not bulging. Hello? Ikaw kaha way kaon?! I lost 2 lbs already, slow? I want a dramatic 10lb drop in my weight! Hahaha! I think with different individuals, diets work in different ways too. What may be effective for you, may not be that effective for me. And the cheating part matters! I guess you really have to stick what's within your limits- as to the food you can tolerate. Frustration starts to kick in when you don't get to finish a simple diet like the GM. But hey! We're all noobs here, there's really no harm in trying (and not finishing). It starts with that one easy step, day one.

:)

Today is "blog day"... Bacolod and Northern Luzon blogs coming up! To also divert my attention away from food.
